Survivors invited to help design new alternative dispute resolution processes at Ministry of Education
The Ministry of Education is committed to improving its alternative dispute resolution sensitive claims process(external link) and would like to hear from survivors on the draft design. Your voices and experience are essential to shaping this process.
The Tūhono Collective(external link) has been contracted by the Ministry of Education to help design the process. This work is based on publicly available information about survivor’s experiences of redress in Aotearoa as well as the Tūhono Collective’s own experience as mediators and developers of alternative dispute resolution processes.
The Tūhono Collective will lead the engagement and we are inviting you to participate, specifically those who:
- have experienced the Ministry of Education’s sensitive claims process, or may do in the future.
- identify as Māori and Pacific.
- are survivors and advocates who want to share their thoughts and feedback.
We welcome anyone who wants to contribute to this important work. Whether or not you identify with one or more of these groups, your voice matters.
There will be options to engage in person, online, or via written submissions. The in-person wānanga will be held the week of 29 July 2024, but we can accommodate flexible dates if needed. Online engagement may take a couple of hours.
Your participation will be valued and compensated. Tūhono will work with those interested in participating about what works best for them.
This work is separate from the work that the Crown Response Unit is undertaking on a wider redress system.
