Kia ora koutou,

This is the first pānui from the Crown Response Office.

The Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry’s final report, Whanaketia through pain and trauma, from darkness to light recommended a central government agency be established to coordinate, monitor and report on the government’s response to the Royal Commission. The Crown Response Office was established in December 2024 and is in the Public Service Commission.

Strategic oversight of the Crown response is through a Chief Executives Group chaired by Deputy Public Service Commissioner, Rebecca Kitteridge.  Members of the group are Chief Executives from:

  • Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
  • Oranga Tamariki | Ministry for Children
  • Ministry of Education
  • Ministry of Health
  • Ministry of Justice
  • Ministry of Social Development
  • The Treasury
  • Whaikaha | Ministry of Disabled People.
